Part of moving to the Midwest, after living most of my life on the West Coast, is scanning the horizon around me and finding it mountainless.
Since living here, I have mistaken massive cloud banks for mountains. There's a moment of recognition, then disorientation, and finally realization. Not a mountain. It's a gorgeous cloud, but not a mountain.
